What is the upgrade cap on the new Knight Online servers?

NTTGame added a second line to the "Server Information" section of its new server announcement: weapon and armor upgrades on the new servers will start with a +8 cap. Knight Online's official X and Instagram accounts posted the same news on October 19: "New servers start with a +8 item cap!" So on the servers that open November 12, a weapon or armor piece can go up to +8. The full announcement is in NTTGame's new server news.

What does the +8 cap mean? No +9 or +10?

On the current servers weapons and armor go up to +10, and BUS's description says "up to +10" too. On the new servers the ceiling at launch is +8, so +9 and +10 upgrades don't exist until the cap rises. The announcement only mentions weapons and armor; it says nothing about accessories or talismans.

Upgrade cap: current servers vs new servers
TopicCurrent serversNew servers (launch)
Weapons and armor +10 +8
Level cap 83 70
Accessories +3 (Accessory Compound Scroll) Not announced
When does the cap rise? — Not announced

Why the level cap is 70, and why characters don't start at 70, is in Knight Online new servers get a level 70 cap.

How big is the gap between +8 and +10? The Raptor example

Most of the gap is in the last two upgrades. By the in-game values, Raptor gives 187 attack at +8 and 235 at +10: 30 of those 48 points come from the +9 to +10 step alone.

Raptor attack: which upgrades exist on the new servers?
LevelAttackNew servers (launch)
+6 167 Yes
+7 175 Yes
+8 187 Cap
+9 205 No
+10 235 No

In our view this narrows the power gap at launch: with everyone capped at level 70 and +8, the player who upgrades highest can't pull as far ahead of a newcomer as on the current servers. How do you get to +8 on the new servers?

  • Up to +5: adding a Trina's Piece to a High Class Item Upgrade Scroll makes the upgrade 100%.
  • +6 and up needs BUS (Blessed Upgrade Scroll); a regular Upgrade Scroll stops at +5.
  • Logos' Blessing Scroll guarantees success up to +7 and can go up to +8, which matches the new servers' cap exactly.
  • Blessing of Logos stops the item from being destroyed on a failed upgrade, but its level can still drop.

NTTGame doesn't publish upgrade success rates; outside these items, every upgrade can burn the item. All scrolls and rules are in How to upgrade in Knight Online: Blessed Upgrade Scroll (BUS), Trina, scrolls and burn rules.

FAQ

Does the upgrade cap drop to +8 on the old servers?
No. The line only covers the new servers; no change was announced for the +10 cap on the current ones.
Can I move my +9 and +10 items to the new servers?
NTTGame hasn't announced any character or item transfer. The new servers start from scratch; in 2022 everyone on the new servers also started with a new character.
Can reverse (REB) items be upgraded?
NTTGame hasn't said. The announcement only gives the weapon and armor upgrade cap; there's no separate line on reverse upgrades.

What happens now?

  • There's no date for raising the cap. "Will start at +8" suggests the cap will open later, like the "starts at 70" level cap, but NTTGame gave no date. In 2022 the level cap started at 80 and reached 83 by July 2023.
  • The most valuable upgrade on the market will be +7 to +8. Demand for Logos' Blessing Scroll, BUS and Blessing of Logos may rise at launch; that's our estimate. We track the new servers' first prices in How much will GB cost on the new servers?.
  • When the cap opens, the race for +9 and +10 starts again; on a Raptor those two upgrades add 48 attack.
  • Nothing changes on the current servers; the +10 cap stays.
  • If you're joining the new servers, the first pre-registration window closes October 29: Knight Online pre-registration is open.
