How do you get a pet in Knight Online?

  1. Reach level 10 and do your first job change. Kate won't give you a pet before it. Quest details are on the pet quest page.
  2. Take the pet quest from [Familiar Tamer] Kate in Moradon Castle (733, 546).
  3. Kill 3 Worms, 3 Bandicoots, 3 Kecoons and 3 Bulcans in Moradon and hand the quest in: you get Kaul's Egg and 5 Familiar Summons.
  4. Hatch the egg through Kate's "Familiar Hatching and transform" menu.
  5. Put Familiar Summon in your skill or hotkey bar and use it; the pet appears next to you. When you run out, buy more at the sundries store.

Kate's menu covers hatching and transforming, renaming, the pet shop and pet level-ups. Renaming a pet later needs a Certificate of Familiar Name Change.

Pet modes: attack, defense and looting

Familiar Channeling lets you take direct control of the pet; it's a skill item too.

Why isn't my pet looting?

  • Without Automatic Looting in the pet's equipment window, or outside Looting Mode, it won't pick anything up.
  • "Pet too far from box to loot" means the box is out of the pet's reach; move closer or keep the pet near you.
  • You can get Automatic Looting from Peddler Kaira with an Automatic Pet Looting Voucher, or from Kate with a Noah auto-looting coupon.

Pet food: how much affection each food gives

The pet window has an option to feed automatically when hunger drops to 5. Turn it on for long farming sessions and you won't have to feed by hand.

Pet leveling: how pets level up and get stronger

  • The pet earns EXP while you fight, and the game shows how much. Pets can lose EXP too.
  • Level-ups are in Kate's "Familiar's Level-up" menu. Some items need a certain pet level; if it doesn't match, the game says "It's not the right Familiar level".
  • Attack Packet raises the pet's attack by 20%, Defense Packet its defense by 20%.
  • Image Change (L, M, H) upgrades the pet's look one step at a time.

Bonuses your pet gives you, and pet looks

User Buff Pet Scrolls in the pet's inventory buff your character directly: +200 HP, +20 defense or +5 attack. You get them from Kaira with 1, 3, 7, 15 and 30-day vouchers.

Pet looks other than Kaul come as items: Bulcan, Goblin, Smilodon, Stone Golem, Harpy, Lamia, Krowaz, Giga Hammer, Hellfire Dragon and more. Right-click the pet item to equip it and call it with Familiar Summon. Transformation scrolls at Kate change the pet's look.
