How do you check your FPS in Knight Online?

Open the Option window in game; the Frame number in the bottom right, level with Save Settings, is your current FPS, and the Ver next to it is the game version. Check it where it matters: a number that looks fine on an empty map can drop hard in Moradon or in a crowded war.

How do you raise the FPS cap?

The cap is set with the FPS slider in Option > Graphic option, and it runs from 30 to 120. There is no separate option to remove the limit, so 120 is as high as it goes. The FPS lock was added to the game in the May 2018 maintenance.

On a 60 Hz monitor, pushing the cap far above 60 won't look any different and only works your GPU harder. On a 120 Hz or 144 Hz monitor, set the slider to 120.

Which settings give you the most FPS?

Every setting below reduces what the game has to draw. If you're stuttering, work down the list and check the Frame number after each step.

Settings to lower for more FPS
SettingWhereWhat to do
Lowest Spec Mode Option > Graphic option > DirectX Option Press it, then APPLY; related settings drop to their lowest
Adjust Focus Distance (view distance) Option > Graphic option Lower it; players and objects are drawn over a shorter distance
Number of Effect Option.exe Move it toward Minimum; fewer effects are drawn at once
Use Weapon Effects / Show Weapon's effect Graphic option / Option.exe Turn off; weapon effects aren't drawn
Use NPC FX, Use Zone Effect Option > Effect option Turn off; NPC and zone effects aren't drawn
Shadows (Use Shadows / Shadow Quality) DirectX Option X or Low; X turns shadows off
Terrain View DirectX Option Low; only nearby ground is drawn in detail
Character, Object, Terrain Option.exe Low; texture quality drops
Multi Core Option > Game option Keep it on if your CPU has several cores

If you want to hide the glow on Reverse items, untick Item Glow Effect in Graphic option; it only changes your own screen, and other players still see their gear glowing.

Lag or low FPS: how to tell which one you have

What players call lag can be two different problems with different fixes. Open the Option window while it happens and look at the Frame number:

  • If Frame drops noticeably, the problem is on the graphics side: lower the settings above, and if you're on DX11, try DX9.
  • If Frame stays high but players teleport and skills fire late, it's your connection. No graphics setting fixes that; close anything downloading in the background and use a wired connection if you can.

Some stutter came from the game itself and was patched: FPS drops in Moradon and Ronark Land were fixed in January 2024 and screen lag was improved in July 2024. March 2025 improved character level of detail and multi-thread performance, April 2025 addressed FPS issues caused by Windows 11 24H2 on some systems, and August 2025 improved DirectX 11 performance. If the stutter is new, make sure the game is up to date first.

FAQ

How much FPS should you get in Knight Online?
Around 60 is enough to play smoothly, and 120 is the highest cap the game allows. FPS above your monitor's refresh rate won't show on screen.
Can you go above 120 FPS?
No. The slider in Graphic option stops at 120, and the menu has no option to remove the cap.
Knight Online stutters on Windows 11. What should I do?
The April 2025 patch improved FPS issues caused by Windows 11 24H2, so make sure your game is up to date. If it still stutters, start from Lowest Spec Mode and try switching between DX11 and DX9.
