The rules for the new USKO servers opening on November 12 sound familiar: a level 70 cap at launch, no Ardream and a +8 cap on weapons and armor. 20 years ago, in summer 2006, USKO had a level 70 cap too, and its first 4 worlds were Ares, Diez, Xigenon and Beramus. Is USKO going back to the classic MyKO era, and are Ares and Diez coming back?
Is USKO going back to the classic MyKO era? Level 70, no Ardream, +8
The period we compare is USKO before the August 2006 Fire Drake expansion, with its level 70 cap. The new servers' rules look a lot like it:

Source / rights
- Level cap 70: the new servers launch with a level 70 cap; characters don't start at 70. Until summer 2006 the cap was 70 too. Knight Online new servers get a level 70 cap.
- No Ardream: the new servers have no Ardream or Ronark Land Base. Ardream came with the August 2006 expansion. No Ardream or Ronark Land Base on the new Knight Online servers.
- +8 cap on weapons and armor: we found no record of a 2006 upgrade cap, so this is the weakest link. Upgrade cap +8 on the new Knight Online servers.
NTTGame hasn't called this a "return to the old days"; the comparison is ours. But the direction is clear: the 2022 servers opened with an 80 cap and no Ardream. In 2026 the cap drops to 70, RLB goes and gear gets a ceiling.
What was USKO like 20 years ago? Wikipedia's 2007 record
The April 8, 2007 version of Wikipedia's Knight Online article lists the worlds in order of creation as Ares, Diez, Xigenon, Beramus, Cypher, Olympia, Edana, Manes, Pathos, Logos and Ronark. By old server records, Ares and Diez opened on August 14, 2004, Xigenon on December 1, 2004 and Beramus on March 25, 2005.
By the same record, "The Reign of the Fire Drake" expansion, released on or about August 3, 2006, raised the cap from 70 to 80 and added a separate PvP map for levels 30–59: today's Ardream.
Ares, Diez, Xigenon, Beramus: where are these names now?
None of the 4 names is on today's USKO list (current list: Which Knight Online server should you play on? 2026 USKO server list, best server and differences). By the old records, the merger chains of the first 4 worlds all end in Oreads today:
| Server | Opened | Merger chain |
|---|---|---|
| Ares | August 14, 2004 | Athena (2013) → back as Ares (2015) → Oreads (2023) |
| Diez | August 14, 2004 | Resurrection (2013) → back as Diez (2015) → Oreads (2023) |
| Xigenon | December 1, 2004 | Atlantis (2013) → Gordion (2015) → Oreads (2023) |
| Beramus | March 25, 2005 | Ephesus (2013) → Diez (2015) → Oreads (2023) |
The last link is in NTTGame's Oreads merger notice: Ares, Diez and Gordion became Oreads on March 9, 2023. Xigenon and Beramus came back on Steam in 2016: a May 2016 maintenance note lists Cypher 1, Adonis 1, Xigenon 1 and Beramus 1; in August Adonis, Xigenon and Beramus merged, and in October Beramus joined Cypher.
| Server | Opened |
|---|---|
| Cypher | January 2016 (Steam launch) |
| Adonis | January 2016 (Steam launch) |
| Xigenon | January 2016 (Steam launch) |
| Beramus | January 2016 (Steam launch) |
| Pathos | February 6, 2016 |
| Hellsgarem | October 6, 2016 |
Has NTTGame brought back old server names before?
Yes, many times. The Ares and Diez names were reused in the 2015 mergers; new servers opened as Olympia (June 2, 2016) and as Akara and Manes (January 19, 2017). Steam also had Cypher, Xigenon, Beramus and Pathos in 2016.
How many new servers will open? 4 servers confirmed
The server selection screen that opened on October 29 lists 4 servers. In 2022 Pandora, Agartha and Felis opened first and a 4th server, Zero, came 3 weeks later; this time all 4 can be picked from the start. 4 is a perfect fit for Ares, Diez, Xigenon and Beramus, but the names are still a guess.

Have the new server names been announced?
Not yet. Server selection started on October 29, but the screen shows no names: the servers are listed as server1, server2, server3 and server4. There are no names in NTTGame's news list or on Knight Online's X and Instagram accounts either.
Since the selection screen uses placeholder names, the names will come in a separate notice; NTTGame hasn't given a date. The channel count isn't out either; the comparison with the 2022 launch is in the new servers news.
Our guess: which names could return?
The other side: the 2019 (Altar, Vega, Sirius) and 2022 (Pandora, Agartha, Felis, Zero) waves came with new names. An old name is possible, but it isn't the rule.
- Ares and Diez: the first 2 worlds, gone since 2023. In our view, the choice that would make the most noise.
- Xigenon and Beramus: unused since 2016.
- Other classics: Cypher, Olympia, Edana, Manes, Pathos, Logos. Ronark is a map name today, so a weak candidate in our view.
- Brand-new names: looking at the last 2 waves, a strong possibility too.
USKO server opening dates: every server, one by one
Every server USKO has opened since 2004, in date order. The 2004–2019 dates come from old records kept by the player community, the 2022 ones from NTTGame. Names listed twice (Olympia, Akara, Manes) are new servers reusing an old name. Mergers: Knight Online server opening and merger dates.
