Where do you download Knight Online?
The only official source is NTTGame's download page. In the page's own words, you need to download the game client to play. The game is free to play, and the download button on the site even says "Play Free". Clicking it downloads an installer named KnightOnline-DLM.exe.
For a sense of size: in September 2025 the download page listed the client at 996 MB (version 2580). Later patches come through the launcher after installation.
Knight Online on Steam (SteamKO) is a separate product on servers apart from USKO. If you want to play on the Turkish servers, install the client from NTTGame's page, not from Steam. NTTGame hasn't announced a mobile version of USKO either; the page only offers the PC client.

The page says that if your CPU, RAM or graphics card is only a little below spec, the game may still be playable. The table is very old: the same page calls Windows 2000 the main supported OS and warns that Windows 98 won't run smoothly, while NTTGame's DirectX 11 notice for the Turkish servers dates from February 22, 2024.

How do you install Knight Online? Step by step
- Open NTTGame's download page and click the Knight Online download button.
- Double-click the downloaded file. That's the whole step in NTTGame's installation guide: double-click the file you downloaded to install the game.
- Go through the "Setup - KnightOnlineEn" wizard with Next. The wizard recommends closing all other applications before you continue.
- Before launching, you can set graphics quality, screen mode, resolution, sound and language in the Option window.
- Start the game by double-clicking the Knight Online desktop icon and log in.

"Save Changes and Start" in the Option window saves your settings and launches the game right away. What each setting does is in Knight Online Option.exe settings: full screen, resolution and window mode.
First launch: launcher, patching and login
NTTGame's official installation guide sums up the launcher in one line: when launcher.exe runs and a newer version exists, the game updates automatically. Start the game any other way and you get "Please access the game by icon on desktop."; always use the desktop icon.
- After logging in, pick your server from the list and click Connect.
- If you have no character on that server, the creation window opens: nation, class, look, hair, bonus points and name, then Create.
- Once the character is ready, hit Game Start.
- If your account uses OTP you'll be asked for a code; if that fails, see Knight Online OTP error: OTP is not active, TimeSync and can't join a new server.
You switch DirectX inside the game: press F10 for the settings window and open DirectX Option on the Graphic tab. To go back to DX9, select DirectX9 and hit APPLY at the bottom (NTTGame, February 22, 2024).
Knight Online installed but won't start or patch

If patching stops with "extract failed", the usual cause is that the game is still running: when the update replaces KnightOnline.exe, it can't write the file while the game is open. Close every game window (all clients if you run more than one); if the error stays after the windows are gone, end the leftover KnightOnline.exe in Task Manager and run the launcher again. If the patch won't download or stops even with the game closed, the servers may be down for maintenance: they're closed during maintenance, so the update can't come through either.
